How long does reparenting take?

If your request meets the transfer guidelines, reparenting can take just a few business days.

Agent Transfer Guidelines

Ethos will process a reparenting request if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Direct Approval: You have written approval from the ultimate parent of your current organization to transfer.
  • Inactivity: You have not activated a policy (that has not been rescinded, terminated, or not taken) within the last 12 months.
  • Entity Sale: If you are part of an entity (or a downline of an entity) which is being sold, the Seller may waive any transfer restrictions applicable to the agents in the purchase and sale agreement. However, if the Seller is not the parent entity at the top of the hierarchy with whom Ethos has a signed EPA, a separate, written waiver from the parent entity will also be required.
  • Direct to Ethos: You are currently contracted directly with Ethos and are not part of an agency hierarchy.

What if I don't meet these criteria? If you have recent activity and do not have a waiver, you must wait 12 months from the date of your last policy activation or 12 months from the date you provided written notice to your current parent organization before the transfer can be completed. You may continue to sell within your current hierarchy during this waiting period.
